Get an insider's view of the Ohio State University Police Dept. from the OSU police officers. Hands-on experiences will include: being finger-printed, having your picture taken and learning the art of lifting finger prints off of objects.
 

Economics... It's All About Choices   new!

You make choices everyday - about what to eat, what to wear, what to do. Come and find out how economics is at work in your life and learn basic economics principles such as budgets and opportunity costs. You'll get the chance to experiment with economics by selecting your favorite candy for your "consumption bundle" and by working in teams to build towers to see the value of your own human capital.
 

Energy and Transportation

There will be a 30 minute lecture on Energy conducted by Dr. Shawn followed by a 60 minute tour of the CAR facility & Student Project's Building, conducted by Frank Ohlemacher. Both lecture & tour will focus on alternative sources of energy used for transportation.
 

How to Groom and Lead a Horse

The workshop will cover basic grooming (brushing, picking out hooves, etc.) and basic horsemanship used for leading the horse.
 

Ohio - Long Ago and Far Away   (repeated at 1:15)

470 million years ago the land we call Ohio was under the ocean and was located 20 degrees south of the equator, about where Australia is today - Ohio was like the Bahamas! Come learn about ancient Ohio, including the neat animals that lived and died to become fossils. During the tour real fossils will be passed around, including trilobites and mammoth and mastodon teeth.

The eye is a very specialized organ that is exciting to learn about. Our eyes enable us to see, and this has tremendous importance to our lives. In this workshop, participants will explore how the eye is examined and some of the important findings of an eye examination. There will be ample to time ask questions of the faculty and staff of the College of Optometry.
 

The Self-Exploration of Today, the Career Choices of Tomorrow

Parents and youth will have the opportunity to experience a fun workshop where each one will have the occasion to communicate their knowledge and understanding of each others' career expectations. Youth participants will discover their career tentative goals, learn more about where they are in the career decision-making process, and what steps have they taken to implement their decisions. Parents will learn more about their daughters' career decision-making paths and gain knowledge about their current roles being played during this process. Opportunities to exchange ideas, insights, surprises, and/or agreements with related career topics will be provided. In addition, boys and girls will receive information and different resources to assist them in the planning of their education and selection of their majors, careers, or future jobs. Parents will also receive information and different resources about the career planning model as well as useful parental tips to assist their daughters in their decision-making process.

Adult sponsors are encouraged to participate in this session
 

Tour of Ohio Stadium   new!

Nestled snugly on the banks of the Olentangy River, stately Ohio Stadium is one of the most recognizable landmarks in all of college athletics. Built in 1922, the horseshoe-shaped structure is now in its 84th year as the home of Buckeye football. Meet at the main entrance of the stadium at 9:45 am.
 

Up, Up and Away (Experience the OSU Airport)   (repeated at 1:15)

This session will start with a general airport tour and then participants will have the opportunity to actively participate in three groups: Flight School will put you in a training aircraft and show you how to use weather briefings for flight planning; Simulators will give you the opportunity to simulate flying an airplane and the Tower Visit will give you a chance to observe controllers who manage incoming and outgoing flights.
