As a family enrolled at the Ohio State Child Care Program, the following service options are available:

(Available June - August) - Early Intervention Services
Daytime Program
Ackerman Road Facility
Monday-Friday, 6 am - 6 pm
Daily child care services for 320 children, 6 weeks old through kindergarten.
Buckeye Village Facility
Monday-Friday, 7am-6pm
Daily child care services for 115 children, 6 weeks old through age 5.
Evening Program
Monday-Friday, 2pm-Midnight
Second shift child care services for children 6 weeks old through kindergarten.
Kindergarten Program
Monday-Friday, 6am - 6pm
Daily kindergarten program for 24 children who are age 5 or older by September 30. The program is chartered and meets the curriculum guidelines set by the Ohio Department of Education.
Extended Evening Child Care
Monday - Friday, 6-7pm
Evening child care services for children 6 weeks old through kindergarten who need extended evening care following regular day care. Arrangements to use the program must be made before 6pm. The cost is $10 per hour per child.
Evening Class Care
Monday - Friday when classes are in session, 5pm-10pm
Evening child care services for children 6 weeks old through kindergarten whose parents/guardians are taking or teaching evening classes. Care is available on a quarterly basis, according to class schedule, while classes are in session. The cost is $10 per hour per child, calculated to the nearest half hour; a family registration fee may apply. There is usually no waitlist for this program.
Occasional Evening Care
Monday - Friday, 6pm-10pm
Evening child care services for children 6 weeks through 8 years old who need occasional evening care while parents/guardians study or enjoy a night out. Families need to request care at least two days in advance and care is granted on a space available basis. Currently enrolled families may pick children up and return later, or Ackerman Road children may move directly from their day room to the evening room. Children enrolled at Buckeye Village must be transported by families to Ackerman Road. The cost is $10 per hour per child; a family registration fee may apply.
Summer School Age Care (Available June-August)
School-age child care is offered during summer months for children who have completed kindergarten, first and second grade. The group is located in the Ackerman Road kindergarten room and care is available Monday through Friday from 6:00am-6:00pm. This program features:
- Programming with a literacy emphasis, providing children with fun reading and writing activities to enrich their emerging academic skills
- A variety of daily activities including arts and crafts, computer and board games
- Field trips on chartered buses to area attractions
- In-house presentations by university and community organizations
- Morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack provided

Cost Information
Tuition is calculated on a sliding scale based on both parent/guardians' gross income and the number of days of enrollment. Please view the Child Care Program's weekly tuition schedule for more information or contact the child care facility office.
Early Intervention Services
Available at the Ackerman Road and Buckeye Village Facility
Two early intervention programs are available that provide at risk and developmentally delayed children with opportunities for growth and self-improvement. Occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech/language pathologists work within the classroom setting to provide individualized intervention services. The classroom teachers collaborate with these service providers to offer motor, cognitive, language, and social skill activities that will meet the goals determined for children with special needs in an inclusive environment.
Infants & Toddlers
Children from 6 weeks to 3 years of age with suspected or confirmed developmental delays or disabilities who are residents of Franklin County may be eligible to participate in this partnership with the Franklin County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MR/DD). The Early Intervention Specialist, therapists, and teachers work in collaboration to provide the needed enrichment while children interact with peers in the classroom setting. Families pay for the child care component of the program based on a sliding fee scale and all federal aid programs are accepted.
Preschool
Children 3 to 5 years with developmental delays may be eligible to participate in a collaborative project with the Columbus Public School District. A special education teacher along with therapists and classroom teachers provides individualized services for special needs children in an inclusive environment. By offering care and therapy in the classrooms, children can interact with typically developing peers providing many opportunities to learn through modeling. There is no charge for preschool special needs services; families pay for wrap-around care based on a sliding fee scale and all federal aid programs are accepted. All children are admitted through referral only.
